CynergisTek Announces New Offerings For Small Healthcare Organizations

CynergisTek, a leading provider of information security solutions for healthcare organizations, announced today the availability of three new offerings customized to provide small healthcare organizations with first-class information technology.

(IT) and security services. The new offerings are designed to alleviate the constraints of IT departments with low budgets and a lack of local expertise in IT security with IT support services, secure email and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)/ Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act security compliance reviews. The services have been designed for healthcare organizations with fewer than 100 beds.

IT Support Services
CynergisTek's new IT support services are designed to meet the needs of small, resource-constrained hospitals where the IT departments are often understaffed or outsourced all together. These new services include: help desk, network and desktop support, training, IT security compliance management and technical testing. CynergisTek's staff acts as an extension of the hospital's team with remote IT support to provide affordable services that ease the burden of the IT department and employ advanced technology to best serve the business.

Email Solution
CynergisTek is also offering an email solution for small healthcare organizations to provide seamless and secure email functionality that eliminates the need for hardware, software and manpower while reducing the amount of money spent annually on email support. This solution provides hospitals with email that is hosted, secured, stored and managed on the Google platform, and encrypted by Zix Corporation (ZixCorp). With this email solution, organizations receive:

  • Their own domain
  • Email (25 GB per user)
  • Google Applications (calendaring system, contacts)
  • Powerful anti-virus/SPAM protection
  • 90 days of archival capabilities (used for e-discovery purposes and compliance)
  • Encryption

HIPAA/HITECH Security Compliance Review
With the HIPAA/HITECH security compliance review service, CynergisTek will consult with hospital staff to help validate and strengthen compliance programs. The Office of Civil Rights (OCR), which has authority for enforcing HIPAA privacy and security, states that a Risk Analysis is critical to demonstrating compliance and is required under the Meaningful Use provisions of HITECH. CynergisTek will work remotely with hospital staff via person-to-person teleconferences, web conferences and secure portals, to review, analyze, test, document and make security recommendations. This eliminates unnecessary expenses and travel costs and provides small hospitals with world-class consulting services and expertise for a minimal investment.

"For the past four years, CynergisTek has worked very closely with our IT staff to ensure all security initiatives are tailored to meet our needs," said Randall Young, CEO, Parker County Hospital District. "Information technology is an integral component of day-to-day operations so it is important to ensure sensitive patient and internal information is secure while keeping manpower and costs at a minimum. The CynergisTek solutions not only eliminate our IT and operational costs, but they also provide timely assistance and response that ensures our IT functions are performing properly at all times. We have had 100% success since implementing CynergisTek's IT solutions."

"Small healthcare organizations often labor under constraints such as under-staffed IT departments, lack of expertise in information security and shrinking budgets," said Mac McMillan, CEO, CynergisTek. "We wanted to provide these small hospitals with expertise and offerings that are right-sized for them for a moderate investment. Our goal is to help small organizations realize the importance of functional IT and security programs that can help them to remain compliant in today's healthcare environment."
