Halfpenny Technologies Expands Functionality Of ITF-GoDoc Application With Addition Of Mobile Order Entry Capability

New CPOE platform allows physicians to send clinical orders to labs via iPad and Android capable tablets

Halfpenny Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of clinical data exchange solutions, recently announced the release of the latest version of its ITF-GoDoc mobile results reporting application – ITF-GoDoc MobileOE. The application, which can be accessed from any location at any time, enables easy-to-use mobile computerized provider order entry (CPOE) via Apple iPad and Android capable tablets. Features such as billing information prompts, ask-at-order entry questions, specimen types and medical necessity checks help ensure clean orders for receiving labs.

ITF-GoDoc MobileOE is part of the Halfpenny Client Connectivity Bundle, which also includes ITF-Hub and ITF-Portal. With the new MobileOE version, orders can be dropped to any capable electronic health record (EHR), laboratory information system (LIS) or billing and accounts receivable system. MobileOE is also integrated with a browser-based workflow facilitator for patient service centers and hospital outpatient registration points to enable order validation prior to electronic upload of orders to the LIS or registration system. Similar to mobile airline boarding pass technology, ITF-GoDoc MobileOE generates and emails a bar-coded requisition directly to a patient's mobile device, which can then be presented to the patient service center for easy order entry.

"Since the launch of ITF-GoDoc in 2009, we have been building on the success of the application's mobile results reporting functionality. Now, with input from our clients, we have extended the capability of the application to include order entry," said Jerry Baker, president and CEO of Halfpenny Technologies. "As a result, we are now able to offer a fully functional and integrated mobile CPOE platform for the iPad and a variety of other tablet devices. We are truly excited to be able to offer this important expansion, the first of several planned additions to the GoDoc mobile platform, all of which have been designed to facilitate provider and lab integration."

ITF-GoDoc is an innovative mobile application that enables physicians to securely receive critical value alerts and to access lab results reports — such as laboratory, pathology, radiology and other clinical results reports — from their mobile devices through push technology. The addition of the mobile order entry feature strengthens the ITF-GoDoc offering by allowing providers to place orders and receive results without the need to be near a computer.

"Our ITF-Mobile solution is built on Halfpenny's Integration Technology Framework (ITF) infrastructure. Delivering on clients' complex connectivity needs for more than 10 years, the ITF is a third generation open SaaS platform that was purpose-built for clinical data exchange and interoperability," said Charles Halfpenny, founder and CTO of Halfpenny Technologies. "ITF-GoDoc MobileOE provides HIPAA compliant secure transfer of clinical data with mobile devices via extensions to our ITF-SecureConnect platform, ensuring the same degree of file encryption and protection as a VPN."

ITF-GoDoc MobileOE will be accessible through the iPad, Motorola Xoom™ and other Android capable tablet devices.
