Hamilton Medical Center Installs 10 CARESTREAM DRX Imaging Systems To Help Enhance Patient Care

New Systems Installed at Hospital, Outpatient Imaging Center

Hamilton Medical Center (Dalton, Ga.) recently installed 10 new digital radiography systems in its busy trauma center, radiology department and outpatient imaging center. These digital x-ray systems can improve image quality and speed image access and reporting, which can ultimately help enhance care for its patients.

The 282-bed hospital implemented a CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution in the emergency department, two CARESTREAM DRX-1 systems in the radiology department and five CARESTREAM DRX-1 Mobile Retrofit kits that are used to image patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), emergency department and surgical suites as well as inpatient rooms. Two DRX systems were also installed at Hamilton Diagnostics Center, an outpatient imaging facility.

"The flexibility and ease of use of the DRX systems is exceptional. With the wireless DRX detector, our technologists can quickly and easily position the x-ray system without moving the patient. Images are available in seconds so clinicians can make immediate decisions on the diagnosis and treatment for our patients," said Stan Casteel, Director of Radiology, Hamilton Medical Center. "Our staff, clinicians and patients all benefit from the advantages offered by this new technology."

Casteel says the two general radiology rooms with DRX-1 systems now conduct the workflow previously handled by three computed radiography (CR) rooms.

Systems Enhance Image Quality, Staff Productivity
Image quality and productivity are also improved in both inpatient and outpatient environments. "The image quality is excellent and the DRX-Evolution suites are designed to reduce manual tasks. Our technologists are experiencing much less wear and tear on their bodies because they are not pulling and pushing on x-ray equipment all day," said Terri White, Manager, Hamilton Diagnostic Center.
