Tech Data Doubles Its Healthcare IT Business

Company outlines growth and distribution strategy at Healthcare Partner Summit

Tech Data Corporation recently kicked off its Healthcare Partner Summit in Las Vegas, where technology resellers will engage leading vendors and industry experts to discuss strategies for capitalizing on the rising demand for IT solutions in the healthcare vertical.

"Tech Data has grown its healthcare business more than 100 percent during the first half of this year," said Tech Data Vice President, Services Barb Miller. "Since establishing our Healthcare Specialized Business Unit a year ago, we have successfully positioned resellers and vendors to increase their IT solution sales to healthcare providers nationwide. The nearly 300 members of our TechMed Alliance have nearly doubled their sales this year through Tech Data. During the Healthcare Partner Summit, Tech Data is teaching even more resellers to take advantage of the growing healthcare IT market."

Throughout the Healthcare Partner Summit, resellers will hear from leading vendors sharing insight into the latest healthcare IT solutions, as well as industry experts discussing winning sales strategies for expanding IT's reach deeper into doctors' offices, clinics and hospitals. Speakers include:

  • Paula J. Magnanti, MT (ASCP) of Strategic Healthcare Solutions will outline the meaningful use standards set forth by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act enacted as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Magnanti also will share sales advice with resellers, such as how to identify the right decision makers and evaluating healthcare IT deployments.
  • gloStream, Greenway and Sage will each introduce their Electronic Health Record (EHR) solutions, strategies and partner programs, educating resellers on what it takes to profitably add these solutions to their core solutions offerings.
  • Brother, Ergotron, Fellowes, Fujitsu, HP, Kodak and VMware will educate resellers on the critical IT needs their solutions meet forhealthcare providers, including cloud computing, document imaging, information security and mobile computing.
  • Tech Data's Healthcare Specialized Business Unit (SBU) team will discuss how specialized solutions and support services like grant writing and its Healthcare IT Pavilion help resellers successfully grow their healthcare practices.

Specialized Healthcare Solutions
As part of its healthcare IT growth strategy, Tech Data also announced that it has established distribution agreements with JAOtech and LuxNex Technology. Tech Data's Healthcare SBU now offers resellers access to JAOtech's complete line of Smart Terminal patient bedside computers.

Using the latest anti-bacterial technology, the terminals provide doctors and nurses with secure access to EHR solutions and deliver IPTV, Web and VoIP services for patient entertainment. LuxNex creates energy-efficient LED fixtures and bulbs resellers can offer for installation throughout healthcare facilities-from hallways to exam rooms-to help their customers cut costs through energy savings.
