University Hospitals Case Medical Center Implements Siemens Enterprise Revenue Cycle Solution

University Hospitals in Cleveland has successfully launched Siemens Healthcare's Soarian Financials at their University Hospitals Case Medical Center facility, becoming the first academic medical center in the nation to go live on the enterprise-wide, web-based revenue cycle solution. The implementation signifies a major achievement in the healthcare provider's overall strategy to leverage technology to better manage operations, build positive relationships with patients and physicians, and optimize financial and clinical results.

Additionally, this live event completes University Hospitals' migration of its hospital facilities to Soarian Financials and marks their sixth facility to deploy solutions from Siemens' Soarian Health Information System portfolio.

With the complexity of payer requirements for hospitals increasing as well as the risks associated with using aging technology platforms, more and more healthcare providers are turning to health IT-based solutions to better manage their critical revenue cycle processes. According to University Hospitals officials, the large integrated health network, composed of six community hospitals and the 1,032-bed University Hospitals Case Medical Center, chose Soarian Financials to help it establish an enterprise solution where patient information could seamlessly flow from scheduling to registration to billing to collections in order to improve the patient experience and net revenue realization.

"The launch at University Hospitals Case Medical Center is a critical step in achieving our strategic vision to bring continuity to our operations to enable us to continue to increase efficiencies in the revenue cycle process," said Don Paulson, VP of Revenue Cycle Management at University Hospitals. "Soarian employs tools, workflow, and analytics that help streamline our operations and keep us focused on the business of exceptional care delivery. We now have timely access to information that enables the management of our operations as well as to make strategic decisions. Bringing Soarian Financials online at University Hospitals Case Medical Center and expanding University Hospitals' overall Soarian single solution model is a significant milestone in our long range plan to differentiate ourselves from our competitors by providing patients and physicians with effortless access to healthcare services."

"Our vision is to maximize customer (patient, employee and physician) satisfaction, operational efficiency and financial performance through the deployment of technology to reduce the inefficiencies and costs presented by existing patient scheduling, patient access, and revenue management systems," said Liz Novak, VP of Information Technology & Solutions at University Hospitals. "The implementation of Soarian is a significant step towards achieving that vision as it has allowed us to eliminate multiple revenue cycle systems and provided a single enterprise-wide system for our hospital facilities."

Soarian Financials is a completely integrated enterprise revenue cycle solution designed specifically to drive down costs and improve operational efficiencies. Soarian Financials goes beyond traditional patient management and patient accounting systems by embedding patient access, a contract engine, an enterprise-wide master person index (EMPI), a claims engine, and denial management into a comprehensive revenue cycle solution.

In conjunction with their Soarian Financials launch, University Hospitals also went live on Soarian Scheduling, which delivers a workflow-driven approach to healthcare providers' patient scheduling and resource management, helping them better manage the complexity of the scheduling process, book tighter schedules, and reduce delays and waste.
