CampusMD Launches Affordable, On-Demand Telehealth Service For College Students

Bethesda, MD /PRNewswire/ - CampusMD announced today that it is launching a nationwide telehealth service available either directly to students and their parents or through wholesale arrangements with partner colleges and universities. The company currently has partnerships with four institutions and is in active discussions with other schools. CampusMD provides college students with 24/7/365 mobile access to U.S.-licensed physicians, and is the only service of its kind that relies exclusively on physicians to provide care.

The announcement was made by Devin Schain , CampusMD's CEO and a successful entrepreneur who has launched a variety of businesses serving the higher education market.

Students or their parents can purchase a CampusMD membership that includes unlimited access by phone or the Internet to a doctor for information, consultation and diagnosis, including prescriptions with a discount card, for$17.95 per month or for one annual payment of $199.95. There are no exclusions, copayments or deductibles, and students do not need health insurance to use the service. Alternatively, institutions can purchase coverage for their entire student body on a wholesale basis.

According to a U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) study, an estimated 20% of college students ages 18-23 are uninsured and a much larger number are underinsured.
