e-Forms: The Foundation For Hospital Automation

In this podcast, Mike Kelley, VP of sales for FormFast, provides Health IT Outcomes's editor in chief Ken Congdon with insight on how e-forms and workflow technologies can help hospitals increase productivity, improve patient satisfaction, and cut costs. In response to the question of what results can a hospital expect from basic e-forms technology installations, Kelley says "We recently did a check request in an actual workflow that we implemented about 18 months ago. The savings for this major health IDN on the West Coast were in excess of $400,000 during the year of 2009. What we found was they were spending about 18 minutes per check reprint request or check adjustment that had to happen. These types of easily measurable hard costs are not uncommon."
