Hospitals Turn To goCharge For Mobile Charging Solutions Charging Stations Allow Friends And Family To Stay In Touch Improving Patient Experience & Boosting Press Ganey Scores

Stations Also Offer Critical Administrative Solution For New Electronic Medical Records Mandate

Hospitals around the nation have found a way to help dramatically improve the patient experience and, consequently, Press Ganey scores through a simple, yet critical solution – mobile device charging. These charging stations, which are free to use and include charging cables for virtually all phones, tablets, music players and other mobile devices, are powered by goCharge and help provide an important comfort to patients, friends and family.

The worry of losing touch during hospital visits is now a thing of the past.  goCharge stations, typically available in waiting rooms and emergency rooms, as well as cafeterias and even nursing stations, ensure waiting time can be filled with reading e-books, playing games on mobile devices, important phone calls, or the ability to work, all without concern for battery life. Hospitals such as North Shore/Long Island Jewish, Mercy Health (Cincinatti, OH), University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Methodist Hospital (Houstin, TX), Virginia Mason Medical Center and many others, have added goCharge stations to waiting and emergency rooms, and have seen an immediate, positive impact on the patient experience and, prospectively the Press Ganey scores. As Press Ganey scores account for approximately 30% of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey (HCAHPS), which hospitals must report in order to receive full Medicare and Medicaide reimbursement under the Affordable Care Act, patient satisfaction is more critical than ever.

Several hospitals are also finding they can utilize the goCharge stations for health education, in addition to providing the charging amenity. Most goCharge models, such as the Orion, its most popular model for the hospital environment, offer a display area for either static messages or the ability to add an iPad or other tablet device for dynamic messaging, also helping to minimize waiting room clutter caused by brochures and other informational material.

In addition, hospitals are now gearing up for the implementation of the new EMR mandate. This mandate, effective as of January 1, 2014, requires electronic patient record-keeping through the utilization of iPads and other mobile devices. As a result, a solution to charge and store these units will be in strong demand. goCharge has introduced a series of  lockable charging units, specifically for storing and re-charging all mobile technology devices.

“We are delighted to be providing hospitals around the nation with mobile charging kiosks to help improve the experience of patients, friends and family, as well as staff,” explained David Walke, CEO of goCharge. “We have had an overwhelming reaction to the potential of our kiosks to improve Press Ganey scores, as well as an administrative solution to the new Medical Electronic Records Mandate requiring more charging solutions for doctors and nurses who will be utilizing tablets and other devices for electronic record keeping starting later this year.”
