Leverage Workforce & Supply Chain Savings To Fund EHR Projects

In this podcast, Nam Vo, VP of global healthcare strategy for Lawson Healthcare talks with Health IT Outcomes's editor in chief Ken Congdon about how speedy ROI from workforce and supply chain technology initiatives can fund the costly EHR projects encouraged by ARRA (The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act). Vo explains how technologies that streamline staff scheduling, credentialing, procurement, and contract management can eliminate waste and inefficiency and quickly contribute to a net increase in patient revenue.

In response to the question of what steps should a healthcare facility take to determine its need for a technology system, Vo says "Certainly I think they need to take a look at the existing workflow processes, as well as the care processes. From there, they need to look at what the 'as is' process is and form a definition of what the 'to be' process should be."
