Clearing Up The HIE Confusion
In this podcast, Peter Kuhn, CEO of MEDSEEK provides Healthcare Technology Online's editor in chief Ken Congdon with his insights on HIE (health information exchange). The conversation addresses some common HIE misconceptions as well as the primary technologies necessary for effective HIE. In response to the question of who is responsible to ensure HIE initiatives are completed successfully, Kuhn says "A lot of the money flowing into the states is saying that states are responsible for ensuring that HIE gets up and running. But, with the meaningful use carrots, hospital executives are paying attention to HIE because if they don't, they are going to get penalized in the coming years."
